🔥 Champion of Champions Glory for Kev
Tuesday night saw Kev flying the flag for Silloth in the Champion of Champions – Cumbria/Lancashire section, taking on John Douglas of Port Carlisle. In an assured performance, Kev wrapped it up 21–12 in just 18 ends. He now moves on to face John Baird in what promises to be a tasty semi-final encounter. Keep it going, Kev!
👏 Ladies Stop the Rot Against Silloth
A much-needed result on Wednesday afternoon as the ladies hosted Silloth and brought their losing streak to an end.
Jo, Anne & Gill led from the front but trailed 12–10 after dropping a 3 on the 13th end. Cool heads prevailed: a two on the penultimate end and a clutch shot by Gill—trailing the jack for 3—sealed a 15–12 win.
Jean, Leslie & Corrine were also in control throughout a tense 10–9 victory.
Linda, Margaret & Aileen had a tough time and couldn’t get going, falling 21–6.
Final score: 4–4 draw, but more importantly—momentum regained.
🏆 Triples Semi-Finals Drama at Fitz Park
The Triples Semi-Finals took place Wednesday evening at Fitz Park, and it didn’t disappoint.
In the Aspatria derby, J. Wilson edged out M. Irwin in a thrilling 15–14 finish.
The Baxter brothers turned up the heat against G. Thompson of Shap, cruising into the final with a 24–14 win.
Finals day is set up nicely.
⚔️ A vs B: The First Ever Intra-Club Clash
Thursday night gave us a bit of club history—the first-ever competitive Courtfield A vs Courtfield B showdown. The B team had rink choice and raised a few eyebrows by choosing… Rink 6.
On that rink, Chris, Lawrence & Jaffa hit the ground running and never looked back—steamrolling Julie, Corrine & Ste B with a booming 28–7 win. Some reckoned Len Goodman had returned based on the recurring cries of “Seven!”
George, David T (on debut) & Mike battled hard but were eventually outpaced by John, Carsy & the phone-addicted Paul, going down 15–6.
On Rink 3, Anne, Gill & Tony R (late sub for Jo) couldn’t stop the unbeaten run of Tayler, Ian & Kev, who dominated 22–5.
Rink 2 brought better news for the B team: Jean, debutant Alex & Dawesy took apart Ste G, Dai & Lee, winning 16–9 and ending the A team’s unbeaten streak.
Final score: A Team 8 – B Team 2, but plenty to be proud of for both sides—especially the debutants.
Friday – Pensioners Still in the Hunt
Back in Carliol League action, the Pensioners hit the road to Dalston and delivered a solid 8–2 win, keeping themselves firmly in the title mix.
🧊 Friday Fizzles into a Quiet Finish
Only two matches to report Friday night, but both packed with action:
Paul & Ian made it 3 wins from 3, overcoming Gordon & Anthony. From 7–1 down after 4 ends, they turned it around with an 8-shot blitz in the middle ends and closed out a 21–11 win.
George Gray defeated Alan Dobson in the other match of the evening, continuing his quietly consistent run.

Stan Bragg League – Caldbeck Too Clinical
Monday saw the team head into the hills for a tricky tie at Caldbeck, where the green was running fast but with wicked lines.
Ste G, Dai & George G were 10–1 down early. They won almost everything from that point but fell just short, 12–10.
Mr Chris, Steve D & Paul C kept things competitive throughout, but a last-end 3 only softened a 16–13 defeat.
Ste B, Anthony & Dawesy hit early form, but lost 7 ends on the trot and went down 23–9.
Overall: 8–0 to Caldbeck, who are breathing down the neck of league leaders Linton (5–3 winners over Aspatria).
